Chemical formula of violet tungsten oxide is WO2.72 (or W18O49), which is one of tungsten oxide, is a fine crystalline powder, the color is generally rendered purple or blue-purple.


Violet tungsten oxide has several other different forms and structures, showing intrinsic crystalline needle and rod form, the particle distribution is more loose, its surface area, the average particle size and bulk density is smaller than BTO and YTO. So its property is very different from other tungsten oxides product. Also because of its unique structure, it is widely used in science, technology and industrial areas.


Violet tungsten oxide is mainly used in the production of tungsten metal powder and tungsten carbide. It can also be used to produce ultra-fine tungsten powder and nano-tungsten powder. Morphology of the violet tungsten is special, each particle is consisted of loose particle group by needle or rod-like grains, which have a great gap grain structure, low bulk density, is conducive to the infiltration of the hydrogen reduction process and escape of water vapor. So the reduction happens both in the surface and internal part.So it is suitable for the production of fine particles of tungsten powder.Use VTO as raw materials in the reduction process without tungsten dioxide (WO2) generated during the intermediate stage, can be used to produce ultrafine or nano tungsten, tungsten carbide powder.
